About Phoenix
Named for what recovery is.
A phoenix is burned down and rebuilt. So is anyone recovering. From birth, from loss, from surgery, from illness. Mun Foong founded Phoenix Signature Kitchen in 2018, after her own confinement.
How Phoenix began
My mother has been a confinement nanny for more than forty years.
I grew up hearing every do and don't there is about traditional confinement.
When I gave birth in 2017, she looked after my baby and me for a hundred days.
Friends kept saying how much they wished they could have that too. That extra nourishment, past the first twenty-eight days.
That is where Phoenix started: for the women who wanted that same care at home.
I then went to Taiwan to study and learn all about confinement practices, to further enhance my knowledge in this field.
Why Phoenix
My name is Foong, which means phoenix in Chinese. The phoenix gives herself up and is reborn, stronger than before.
If you are a mother, you will understand this. Parts of us die when we give birth: the freedom to do whatever we want, the body we used to have, the person we used to be. Getting your original self back is almost impossible, and raising a baby is bittersweet.
But motherhood teaches you things about yourself you did not know, and the bond with your child teaches you what unconditional love actually means. You find strength and courage you did not know you had.
That is when I think a mother is truly a phoenix.
At Phoenix, your physical recovery and your mental wellbeing come first. If you need that bit of nourishment, we are here.

Some people need this care and cannot pay for it. Phoenix Care is how we help where we can.
Some of the people we work with
Phoenix works with practitioners across nutrition, Chinese medicine, lactation and birth support. This partnership is for menu design, for advice when a customer's situation calls for it and to refer people to the right care when food is not what they need.
