Phoenix Signature Kitchen

The month that sets the tone for everything after.

Traditional confinement meals, cooked fresh at each delivery and delivered warm across KL and the Klang Valley. Tell us when you are due and we will work from there.

The first month

You will be told a hundred things about this month.

Rest. Don't rest too much. Eat this, never that. Everyone has an opinion and most of them are given with love.

Phoenix cooks the food, so that part is settled.

Before you order

Who is ordering; who is eating

Husbands, mothers, mothers-in-law and friends order from us all the time. If you are arranging this for someone else, tell us what you know and we will work with it. If you are the one who will be eating, tell us what you cannot stand the smell of. Both are useful.

Six stages · seven days each

The soup changes as you do.

The six stages follow the traditional confinement framework. Each week's menu shifts with the stage. The 28-day Confinement Meals programme includes Stages A–D. Extended Confinement continues with Stages E–F.

  1. Stage A

    Clear & Release

    Days 1–7

The first week is for clearing. This is the traditional stage for lochia's natural release, while the body settles peacefully.

  2. Stage B

    Recondition

    Days 8–14

Digestion first. This is the traditional stage for settling the stomach, so the body can absorb before the tonic weeks begin.

  3. Stage C

    Replenish

    Days 15–21

The tonic weeks. Qi-and-blood soups rebuild what birth drew down, from the liver and kidneys to muscles and joints.

  4. Stage D

    Nourish

    Days 22–28

Sustained nourishment for energy, complexion and milk supply through the later weeks.

  5. Extended Confinement

    Beyond the first 28 days

Extended Confinement continues the progression through two further seven-day stages.

  6. Stage E

    Strengthen & Stabilise

    Days 29–35

Consolidating stage. Strengthening the spleen and stomach, rebuilding stamina for the weeks back on your feet.

  7. Stage F

    Restore & Reshape

    Days 36–42

The turn back toward everyday life. This stage focuses on easing bloating, supporting complexion and body composition.

Decided to go with PSK after shopping around for confinement food deliveries because when I inquired what herbal soups they served according to the confinement calendar, they took the time to list out the names of each soup. I was able to update my meal preferences to remove ginger and herbs in the beginning of my 28 day package when I was monitoring baby's jaundice without any hassle, just a text via WhatsApp. The meals were wholesome and my husband also enjoyed being able to have a portion, I particularly enjoyed the mee sua and all the different tong sui. Everything came in thermal containers and was warm for every meal. Definitely made my confinement so much more comfortable and convenient with food delivered right to my door and didn't need to wash dishes.

If you're reading this review then there's a good chance you're considering if you want to send your wife to a confinement centre or do it at home. I can tell you doing it at home coupled with outsourcing the food part will be the best decision you'll ever make. And when it comes to confinement food, no one does it better than Phoenix kitchen (in my own opinion anyway). They are highly organised, put a lot of thought in how to make life easy for you (no need to wash the containers, twice a day delivery, packed in a manner that it's easy to just eat out from / microwaved, etc). Their food options are quite vast too (you get to select your options every week) and the portion is almost good enough for 2 person. Taste is pretty decent, granted it's a little bland but that's the whole point. You don't want food that's too oily or salty for your recuperating wife.

I would highly recommend all new mommies to subscribe to Phoenix Signature Kitchen's confinement food! I've never fancied confinement food mainly because I don't fancy ginger but engaging with them changed my mind so much so I'm considering extending my confinement meals beyond my 28 days!! I looked forward to my meals daily (especially the vinegar pig trotter!) The taste is well balanced, not too salty nor too bland. Very generous portion it is sufficient to feed 1 adult + 1 toddler! Super satisfied with their food and the quality of their meals!

Superb food experience dealing with Phoenix Singature Kitchen. Healthy delicious warm confinement food delivered to hospital door steps. Clear instructions dealing with the rider on the food pick up + friendly responsive customer service answering all questions. Can't find fault with their service and most importantly is the high quality confinement food for the mummy. Highly recommended all the mum to be to explore their confinement food delivery package. Generous portions and certainly will engage them again.

Our approach

Rooted in tradition. Guided by modern nutrition.

Mun Foong’s understanding of confinement cooking began at home. Her mother spent more than 40 years as a confinement nanny locally and abroad, and Mun Foong grew up learning the recipes, ingredients and traditional thinking surrounding the postpartum month.

The Phoenix menu was designed with that foundation, alongside guidance from nutritionists and TCM practitioners. We respect what traditional confinement cooking is intended to do, while looking at the menu through a modern lens of nutrition, balance and recovery.

The result is neither a generic healthy menu with herbs added nor tradition reproduced without context. It is Phoenix’s own confinement programme, built for families today.
